It signifies that you’re a citizen living and working legally in a foreign country. So it’s important that you are knowledgeable on the requirements and fees that is needed for you to be able to renew your passport.

1. What are the requirements of Philippine Passport renewal?

  • Personal appearance
  • Duly filled-up passport application and /or extension form
  • Original passport
  • Photocopy of passport data page and last page

  • Those whose passports are about to expire within the next 6 months, or whose Kuwait residence visas are about to expire within one year from the date of expiry of the passport, should apply for EXTENSION and RENEWAL of their passport in order to avoid any lapse in the validity of their passports and payment of immigration penalty
  • Use BLACK INK in filling up the passport application form
  • Passports that have expired for more than one year may no longer be extended
  • The validity of passports may only be extended once
  • Upon receiving the new passport, the Kuwait residence visa must be IMMEDIATELY TRANSFERRED to avoid immigration penalties
  • FEE: KD 18 for renewal; KD 6 for extension

  • Personal appearance
  • Duly filled-up passport application and /or extension form

  • Arabic birth certificate of the child with authentication from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and official English translation (plus 4 photocopies).
  • Marriage certificate of the parents (DFA-authenticated NSO marriage certificate or Report of Marriage) (plus 4 photocopies)
  • Passport and Civil ID, if any, of the parents (plus 4 photocopies).
  • FEE: KD 18 for new passport; KD 7.5 for Report of Birth

2. Which is better, renew in Philippines or in Kuwait?

If you’re already in Kuwait, it is ideal to renew your passport there since you’d be able to get it in less than a month without needing to travel back to Philippines wherein you’ll have to pay for the expenses from plane ticket and travelling to the office. Also, it’s wise that you’re still working in Kuwait while your passport is still on process of renewal.

3. Steps in Renewing your Passport in Philippine Embassy Kuwait

    • Anyone renewing or applying for passport is advice to wear a collared attire for formality and taking of picture.
    • It is only around 8:00 to 12:30 pm that the embassy is accepting applicants
    • To avoid any delays, it’s advisable to bring all the necessary documents and be there as early as possible so you would be able to finish the process of your renewal as smoothly as possible.
    • Make sure that you have provided the right information and the person in-charge processing your passport have encoded it right too.

4. Important Reminders for Claiming of Passport

      • Please check date and time of release. Bring old passport when claiming new passport.
      • Passports unclaimed after six (6) months from the date of issuance will be cancelled per Department Order No. 37-03.
      • Extension of green passport will soon be discontinued per DFA Circular 516-OUA-2012 to comply with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards requiring all non-machine readable passports to be out of circulation by 2015.
      • Upon receipt of the new passport, please transfer immediately the Visa to the new passport to avoid payment of Immigration fines.
